The more I read about art and the arts, the more I reminisce about a time I have never personally experienced. The rise of the typewriter. Individual expression, portable, sometimes so portable that it crawls away from you while you’re tripping on bug powder. I’ve never experienced that either.
Gone are the days of the ink blots, ink wells, and long spindly arms of an Underwood. Baudelaire nailed modernity.
I was inspired by a picture in a book about Patti Smith. I was inspired by a friend talking about barbed wire. I was inspired by all the positive feedback for these canines I’ve been painting. Neon-esque. Fun.

Last night I went to the Pioneer Square Art Walk. I was inspired by Jennifer Phillips. She painted on the scrabble tiles little landscapes. I thought how cool, two things I love. Word games and art. Here’s my variation on that theme.

I love acrylic paint. Growing up in Hawaii has encouraged in me a love of environmental serenity and beautiful views. My favorite paintings involve vibrant colors and natural elements, mostly flowers and trees, a reminder about how estranged we are from nature. I call this series Magical Destiny. I’ve been unemployed for the past month and created these works. With my free time, I’ve discovered a new concept of my future that involves making art a sustainable reality. Welcome to my first show.
