Another Commission. I’m not sure if it’s finished. Once again, I’m waiting on client’s reaction. Sometimes less is more. Better underworked than overworked in my opinion.

I’m not sure what to do with this. It is on the brink of painting over. I like it, but at the same time, I tried to do something and for some reason, it escaped me. I kept reworking the paint hoping it would just show up, but green on green is like doing those butter paintings when you’re bored at a restaurant and you have a plate of butter and a bread applicator. As much as you work the butter onto the porcelain, it is just that. No masterpiece to come of it. But, Dan appreciated that I gave the background some thought. It struck me as odd. I’ve always thought I gave the background the attention it deserved. However, this extra gradation has added something literally remarkable. Hmm…

It’s nice to see this. Hard work all wrapped up and ready to go. I am a thoughtful factory. Missing from the picture, Dan and Meranda’s presents.

  • Portrait of the Artist’s Father

    November 29, 2009

Christmas present for my dad. He’s such an adventurer. It’s funny how I come from two people of two climates. I don’t know where that leaves me, though I’ve always said that I am my father’s daughter for no reason I can think of. I love the snow and the cold. Nothing makes me feel more alive than crisp air.

  • First Commission

    November 28, 2009

Found an ad on craigslist for a lady wanting an oil painting of her dog. I suggested acrylic and went out and got a nice canvas and here it is. Might need reworking depending on the client’s response.
