    June 8, 2009

I finished this today with a sense of accomplishment. It’s simplicity and movement allows it to have a presence. I want to go back and fix this other one. I can just tell what my mistakes were in the first attempt, mainly the yellow, the posutre is off, the focus is off, it is just off. It feels good to get it right. These frames are so beautiful, I just want to do it justice.

I thought I could use another night scene in the series.

  • Mac art

    June 6, 2009

    macart

This light wood frame continues to inspire me to make things with a “Mac-ian” aesthetic. I painted over the disappointing mac tree. The sunburst motif is translated here into this sprawling butterfly wing effect. I was  playing. I thought of how differently it would look without a black background. Kind of tye-dye look.

VV wallhanging find. I love these mini paintings. They are so cute and these bright ones are like cotton eye candy. I would love to have a bright pink studio and put these up with some flower pillows.

  • Arches

    June 6, 2009

I wanted to incorporate some architecture like Magritte does… I couldn’t find a way to make this one more interesting. Found white wood panel with little kid’s sleigh scene on it. I like this better, but not by much.

This is a beautiful VV frame. I don’t know if I did it justice. Maybe the tree needs a bleeding heart. I don’t know how I would incorporate a leaves motif, but I think it is a beautiful aesthetic.

  • Flower in My Heart

    June 3, 2009

    heartflower

Value Village frame. I liked the Hot landscape in the night tree’s heart, I thought I would put the night flower into this. They kind of go together. I’m not entirely sure about the black lines in this one.

  • Crying Dogwood

    June 3, 2009

I loved this frame when I saw it at Value Village. It’s colors are pretty and fit in with my idea of pastel beauty, but I haven’t really explored the greens and thought it would be a good opportunity. I like the sunlight in this a lot. Dan questions the what I call “albino tree” that kind of acts like a spot light for the figure, but I like it.

I didn’t intentionally add the blue strokes to look like flowers, but I’ll be damned, they do and it’s pretty.
