  • Video: Prismatic Ventricles- Experiment 2

    October 6, 2014

    feedback-loop-shaman

ASMR: Prismatic Ventricles Production- Experiment 2 [binaural] – YouTube.

Prismatic Ventricles– From the great trio, specifically, a Squirrel composition, a strange good time. I love the youtube comments on this one:

    “love it!”
    “I… what.”
“Wow this is scary good. Thank you so much!!!!”
“This video is strangely compelling. It’s terrifying, yet I can’t look away.”

This was over a month a ago (I’m late on blogging these things) which makes for an interesting perspective on the project. This was my “cyber-shaman” phase when I thought myself some kind of priestess, wearing body paint and scarves, seeing into the feedback loops of my webcam and finding some truth to shapes and the material of reality.

  • Video: Prismatic Ventricles- Secret Hike

    October 5, 2014

    vid-screengrab
ASMR: Prismatic Ventricles Production- Secret Hike [binaural] – YouTube.

Prismatic Ventricles– From the great trio, a collage of sounds. Somewhere in there is some clip from the time Echo and I went on a hike. Sometimes, when I am making these vid-tracks, I pull randomly from the vault. It’s a way to remind myself that I built a library for a reason and to use these clips only once seems kind of silly. These tracks are like memories to be relived in new contexts with eyes closed and open.

Visuals: a trip around South Lake Union with an overlay from the previous vid, Experiment 1. I’m in love with the texture of water. It’s relaxing and mysterious.

  • Video: Prismatic Ventricles- Experiment 1

    October 4, 2014

Experiment1ASMR: Prismatic Ventricles Production- Experiment 1 [binaural] – YouTube.

Prismatic Ventricles– From the great trio, something else. This is a track composed by Squirrel. He sent it to me, I attached some video I made of the colorama filter and the scanning (video panning) of this black and white piece I made using acrylic black and a correctional fluid pen (like this one BIC Wite Out Shake N Squeeze Correction Pens 16 mL White Pack Of 2 by Office Depot). Art is continuing even after your hand cramps. Is it a painting? Is it a drawing? Drawing with paint?

I love the laughter in this track. I’m looking forward to more collaborations where the sound is as rich and complex as this.

  • Portrait of Inspiration and Inktober

    October 3, 2014
    portrait-of-inspiration
My work comes from my head and my heart, but mostly my hands.

Since I’ve started #inktober, I’ve created 3 images. I tried to do a 30 day challenge before with less success. Social Media helps as a reminder and incentive to stay with it. I am really glad to say that so far, so good. It’s been interesting having an opportunity to express myself with ink everyday. I approach the watercolor paper blank. It’s blank and I’m blank. I start drawing and it develops before my eyes like a Polaroid coming from a place that I was kind of aware of, but I’m wondering how deep it goes and how weird it gets. I don’t plan it out, but it’s really comforting to see pairs in the foreground. After years of mostly solitary figures in my work (look at the Drifters or the Nicole Series), it’s interesting in this brief beginning to see a theme of pair.

    inktober-so-far

I am influenced by Carl Krull‘s use of line and how a series of lines can create a depthful surreal environment.

  • Daily Kaleidolons

    September 25, 2014

kaleidolonsMy friend and muse, Melanie Diez, named the Image Series. “kalos (beautiful in Greek) + eidolon (“idol” in Greek, in English it means a vision or phantasm)”

Speaking with Dan, another friend of mine, he said that he was a little daunted when my pictures would kind of crowd his social media feed. He was like “they’re um… abstract.” So I decided to keep the kaleidolons to a daily scheduled thing from my Facebook page Katarina Countiss Multimedia.

I’m pretty sure that cuts down on the amount of people that will end up seeing the work because of Facebook’s notoriously bad business page algorithms. 14 Ways New Facebook Betrays Small Business | Convince and Convert: Social Media Strategy and Content Marketing Strategy. But, it’s nice to get it out of the way. I like the idea of my fans getting excited every day at 9am. With some persistence, it might be possible that there are some people that will consider it as regular as the sun rising. Like clockwork. “Time for a moment of photographic or painterly zen with super symmetry.”

  • Video: Prismatic Ventricles- The Tomatoes are Telepathic

    September 23, 2014

ASMR: Prismatic Ventricles Present The Tomatoes are Telepathic – YouTube.

Prismatic Ventricles– From the great trio, another mind-bending track. Hard to say what all the audio is, but the visuals is a coloramaed, kaleidescoped video of pan shots of my painting series where I used big post-its and black acrylic paint.

  • Chihuly Reflections

    September 21, 2014

I went to Chihuly Garden and Glass and took pictures. I reflected it and made a video ASMR: Sculptural Garden reflected – YouTube. It was pretty magical. It seemed very natural and relaxing on the eyes to look at it.
