I am interested in opening up your mind and body by facilitating durational exercises that release you from your current programming.

The first prompt is to create a square of tape. Seven by seven feet. On the floor.

You are allowed three objects. Plus a writing device.

We call this Square Time.

You will start with thirty minutes. Your assigned witness will keep the time.

The witness is important. Someone has to know how long you’ve been there.

I am interested in hearing your story. And helping you become free from the lies you tell yourself.

I will ask you questions about your story until we have found a primal lie that we can dissolve.

Not destroy.

Dissolve.

The next prompt is to create a rectangle on the floor. Ten by five feet. Put two chairs inside it.

One for me.

One for you.

A witness will keep the timer for sixty minutes.

I will focus on you by hearing your story. I will ask questions until we find the primal lie.

And then we will repeat its opposite.

The truth.

Ten to thirty times.

Sometimes repetition is a door.

Sometimes repetition is just repetition.

You have to stay long enough to find out.

I am interested in reminding you of your soul’s connection to the earth.

To nature.

To place.

For me, it is the rolling hills of Ireland.

The cliffs.

The details.

The particular shapes of things.

The way a place can enter the body without words.

These details of home comfort me.

They give me strength.

I will go into every detail possible.

And afterward, I am changed.

This is the strange thing about remembering a place.

You think you are remembering the place.

But the place is also remembering you.

The prompt is to write about your place.

Everyone, take out your writing devices.

We will spend thirty minutes on this endeavor.

I will put the prompt here:

Brain dump of your soul’s resonance to place.

Memory of place.

Every detail you can muster.

Any story.

Keep going.

Fragments are welcome.

Drawings are welcome.

Feelings.

Ways of getting at it indirectly.

A smell.

A cliff.

A room.

The particular sound of a door closing somewhere far away.

You don’t have to know what it means.

You don’t have to make it beautiful.

You don’t even have to understand it.

Just keep going.

We are looking for the place underneath the place.

The memory underneath the memory.

The thing you knew before you knew that you knew it.

Thirty minutes.

Your witness will keep the time.

And when the time is over—

we will see what is left.
