Book Arts is a big book featuring high quality pictures of innovative printing/odd sizes, boxes, paper techniques, etc. My favorite was superimposed images with bright cmyk of couples- Ines von Ketelhodt

Artist Scholar is about research and practice. I really appreciate the distinction between knowledge and understanding. I liked the idea of an education program for higher education in the arts because MFA is for college and under, but what’s above? Also the idea of the option to submit your dissertation in an art format. I appreciated the pathways of research questions and literature review.

Art Science. This book highlighted the unique energy of academia and the issues of undisciplining and how that a shift has to occur to make art science collaborations easier to develop and be accepted in the institutions.

Common place is a survey of the traditional heritage of using commonplace books to write down notes, memories, ideas, snippets of poems, quotes, etc. I really appreciated the idea of florilegia, the idea of a book about all the flowers I have personally met. I can appreciate the idea of a flower as a reminder to write down what my life is like and what I’m thinking about, but also as a way to pay homage to a flower’s unexpected and pleasant presence in my life. I really like seeing people’s notes and handwriting and diagrams and doodles. I’m looking forward to making a zine about my latest sketchbook.
